Finishing Off The Year Strong

We cannot believe the year is almost done!  Our latest event has been our best yet!  Unlimited with Olivia Keane went flawlessly and we want to thank all of our members who came out to GET FIT!  We learned about drinking more water, how to eat the leanest foods for your body and then did a great kick butt workout that can be done in the privacy of your own home.  Our next event is our year end wrap up!  YWiB Uvic Presents: Cheers will take place on Wednesday March 28th at 6pm.  Make sure you RSVP today and check out the Facebook event for more details!

November Already?

We can’t believe that November has already crept up behind us. This month, YWiB Uvic is putting a focus on philanthropy and dressing professionally.

Join YWiB Uvic on November 17th at 4pm on campus to put together Christmas boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Bring us a few new items that could go into a shoe box for any young child. We will divide up the items and put them into boxes for you! All you need to do is bring us a few little items from either the dollar store, Wal-mart, or anywhere! The foundation recommends school supplies, toys, or anything that you think a child in need might cherish. They do not accept food, used items, playing cards, or liquids.

Join us again on November 23rd at 5:30pm at the Canoe Club restaurant in Victoria to learn how to dress for success! Learn how to:
>dress for an interview
>prepare a presentation
>get ready for a casual meet and greet with a company you’re interested in working for
Find out great tips from young professional women in Victoria!

We are so excited to celebrate this month with great events and we hope you are able to come out and join us!

In October, YWiB UVic participated in Get Pink’d. The campaign invites offices, places of work, schools, clubs or groups to wear something pink and show their support for a future without breast cancer on the second annual Get Pink’d! day, which took place on Thursday, Oct. 27.

A BIG thank you to everyone who donated and bought a Get Pink’d pin! With all of your help YWiB UVic successfully raised $800 for the Canadian Breast Cancer foundation!

Branding Workshop

All smiles at the Branding Workshop!

In October, YWiB UVic focused on branding, branding, branding! We want to extend a huge thank you to Paul Holmes from Idea Zone who came to help us learn the ways of the web, how to maximize our branding over the internet, and how to get involved with social media. All of the girls learned so much and we are now experts about personal websites, Twitter, Facebook privacy and LinkedIn.

What is a Branding Workshop you ask? Our branding event was similar to modern resume workshop; however, it involved a social media spin. Because so many employers are turning to the internet to find new employees, we thought it would be great if our YWiB girls could get ahead of the game. Paul taught us how to adjust privacy settings, create websites and linked in profiles, update facebook and twitter accounts, and how to portray a good image over the web. Thanks again Paul!

Stay tuned in November for our “YWiB UVic Dressed For Success” event!

On October 19th at 6pm Paul Holmes from Idea Zone will teach us about professionally branding ourselves. He will be talking to us about

>privacy settings for social
>tweeting and Twitter
>personal website creation.

All that will be needed for this event is your laptop and yourself!

*A reminder, if you haven’t paid your membership fee please bring it to the Branding Workshop.
