About Project GIVE (Generating Innovative Visions of Enrepreneurship)
Are you energetic and ambitious? Do you have a passion to make a difference and make an impact? Do you ever think about what you have to give…? Then we want you to be a part of YWiB SFU’s newest program, Project GIVE!
YWiB SFU is excited to introduce this innovative new program, which will provide selected participants with a platform to explore and influence the field of social entrepreneurship. Project GIVE will have participants working in teams to pursue ideas of social change. Guided by mentors, and educated through seminars, each team will create their own unique social entrepreneurship project. Each project will be slightly different, but every participant will learn the skills necessary to plan and execute their ideas, while working with industry experts, and connecting with ambassadors from well-established local organizations.
What is social entrepreneurship?
Social entrepreneurship is about identifying and pursuing opportunities to bring about change with respect to society’s pressing social problems. It is about impacting society in a positive way, in areas such as education, economic development, welfare reform, environment, health, and human rights. The topic is broad, and the possibilities are endless.
The Program
Project GIVE is a 6-month program that aims to inspire and develop ideas for social change, by arming participants with the skills, education, and resources necessary to create their plans, and see them through. Along the way, teams will be learning from and working with some of the most influential names in social entrepreneurship in BC today. To wrap up the program, teams will present their projects to a panel of experts that will give each team collaborative, comprehensive feedback. Following the presentation, a dinner will be held to celebrate the teams’ success, and give participants and panel members an opportunity to get to know one another, while exchanging knowledge and ideas.
